DMARDS

Rheumatologists use a variety of medications that treat the underlying immune abnormality causing arthritis. The first line of treatment for arthritis is usually a Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drug (or DMARD).

Here is a list of DMARDs we use and a link to the American College of Rheumatology patient educational handouts on these medications.

Biologic Medication

As treatment gets more complicated, we turn to Biologics to control the arthritis. Here is a list of the biologics we use. Some are self- injected and some are given in an IV (intravenous) infusion in our office.
